Which One Should You Make?
If you like small, portable pieces, choose a square or hexagon pattern: the Daisy Farm square (#4), Nana’s sunflowers (#6) or the Summer Garden hexagons (#11). Make a motif a day and join at the end.
If you would rather not join anything, the Perfect Flower Blanket (#1) and the Puff Stitch Flower Baby Blanket (#10) build the flowers into rows.
For a gift that gets a reaction, the rose bouquet blanket (#7) rolls up to look like a bunch of flowers.
FAQ
How many flower squares do I need for a blanket?
It depends on the square size. As examples from this list, A Crafty Concept’s daisy blanket uses 42 squares, and the Summer Garden baby blanket uses 114 small hexagons. Measure one finished motif, decide the blanket size, and divide.
What is the best way to join flower granny squares?
Join-as-you-go on the last round saves the most time. Whip stitch through the back loops gives a flat seam, and slip stitch gives a raised ridge that can look like a frame. All three work; pick the look you like and use it for the whole blanket.
Can I make a flower blanket with scrap yarn?
Yes, and several of these were designed for it. Keep the background and petal colors the same across the blanket and let the flower centers vary, so the scraps look planned.
Crochet one flower motif tonight, lay it on the sofa, and you will know which pattern you want to fill a whole blanket with.
